Whether you’ve been playing Rummy games for a while, or you’ve recently joined the fun, every player could benefit from a few good strategy tips! Keep reading to find out what simple tips could help you improve your game and help you win those huge jackpots…

1. Keep an eye on the discard pile
Remember which cards your opponents have discarded – this will give you an indication of their hands, which could give you an advantage. Remember; you cannot pick up a card on the discard pile unless it is your turn, so make sure you know which cards you may need for your current round.

2. Try to take from the stock pile
Where possible, it is best to try and draw cards from the stock pile rather than the discard pile, as this prevents your online rummy opponents from knowing which cards you require. As the stock pile is face-down, no-one can see which cards you are picking up, while the discard cards are face-up and visible to all. You may take from the discard pile if you are close to completing a set or run however, as you will be able to lay your cards straight away.

3. Knock early in multi-round games
It can sometimes be beneficial in the long run to knock early in multi-round Gin Rummy games, rather than waiting for Gin. This trick avoids the risk of undercut and also throws off your opponents.

It may seem a bit complicated at first, but in just a few rounds you will get the hang of the game – then you can partake in the thrill-a-minute tournaments which offer some massive cash prizes! Visit Rummy Express to play online Rummy and you are sure to understand why so many players just cannot get enough of this great game!

The game of Rummy has been in existence for many years, and has come a long way from the online version that is currently taking the internet by storm. This family of games is essentially based on skill, and all include a similar game pattern that consists of players drawing and melding cards during each turn. Players need to meld their cards into sets and runs. A set is a three or four card meld of the same rank, while a run includes three or more consecutive cards of the same suit.

The history of Rummy has a few different origins, with some versions tracing the game back to New York in the 19th Century, and other versions tracing the game back to the time of the Orient. The Chinese game of Mahjong is based on the same principles of melding and drawing cards and other ancient Chinese games going back to the 18th Century also share many similarities to Rummy. There is also a belief that Rummy was attributed to the Spanish communities who immigrated to the Western world. A Spanish card game known as Conquian is very similar to Gin Rummy, and is often thought to be the ancestor of this popular card game. There are also many indications that the name Rummy originated in England, deriving from the word ‘rum’ which meant ‘odd’ or ‘strange’. As for the Gin part, the games were most likely enjoyed over a drink or two while participants would play Rummy, which is most likely how it became known as Gin Rummy.

However rummy became the much-loved game it is today, one thing is for sure – this card game is highly addictive, and remarkably easy to learn. The advancements in technology over the past few years has seen Rummy go from a popular card game to the online version that is becoming such a huge hit, and with highlights such as promotions, tournaments, bonuses and chat, it has never been this much fun to play and win online Rummy!
